As cool as cucumber = Calm and not agitative.
e.g. He never minds of anything, he is as
cool as cucumber.
2. Have your cake
and eat it too = The point is that if you eat your cake right now you won’t
have it to eat later. OR to have advantage of both alternatives.
e.g.
Don’t be extravagant. Because you can’t have your cake and eat it too.
3. Go banana = go crazy or become silly.
e.g. She went banana when her mother woke her up so early.
4. In a pickle = in trouble/ mess
e.g. Sarah has got herself in a pickle.
5. A lemon = something defective/unsatisfactory
e.g. That product turned out be a lemon.
6. As sweet as sugar = good natured person
e.g. She helps everyone. She is as sweet as sugar.
7. Piece of cake = something very easy.
e.g. That task is a piece of cake for me.
8. Take something with a grain of salt = Accepting with
considerable doubt.
e.g. He is deceptive so take his words with a grain of salt.
9. Cut the mustard = Achieve success standards; win.
e.g. Both the opponents are highly competitive. Let’s see
who is going to cut the musard.
10. Apple of one’s eyes = someone who is very cherishing.
e.g. Ali is apple of his lover’s eyes.
11. Sell like hot cakes = the brand which is sold very much
and it is popular.
e.g. Iphones are nowadays sold like hotcakes.
12. Put all one’s eggs in one basket = To risk everything at
once.
e.g. A good businessman never puts all his eggs in one
basket.
